Does Learning Spanish from Popular Media (TV Shows, Movies, Music, etc.) Sound Like a Good Idea?  It Is!  How Do You Do It?

Hi, I’m Andrew Tracey (me on left: dogs like me, that means you can trust me), and I help people learn foreign languages.  That’s what I do for a living: I write blogs, books, and newsletters as well as make videos about how to learn foreign languages, right now mostly about Spanish since that’s the one I speak the best by far (and have the most experience with).  The method I advocate, that I myself use, is learning a language from popular media in that language, e.g. TV shows, movies, books, music, websites, news, comics, etc.  These are effective because they teach you the language as it’s currently spoken by actual native speakers.  Not only that but it’s fun and teaches you a lot about the culture.  So how do you do this?

You can waste a lot of time learning how to do this on your own, or you can just let someone teach you how to do it and save a ton of time and frustration (I’ll do it for free, stick with me here…)

You can’t just sit there passively watching/listening without understanding much if any of what is said.  That doesn’t work, we know that doesn’t work now (most of those “learn Spanish while you sleep” courses seem to have gone extinct because people stopped buying them, thank god).  You have to study the material.  There’s a way to do this that’s effective and fun, and then there are a lot of pitfalls, problems, and frustrations waiting for you if you try to sort this out on your own (guess how I know: I sorted it out on my own).  Let me help you.

The best way for me to do this is via my newsletter: I can send you a structured, carefully designed instructional series that will immediately get you started learning Spanish using this method without overwhelming you.  I’ll also send you tons of free resources and alert you to any sales going on for language-learning products I’m aware of (there’s almost always one going on at any one moment).  The very first thing you’ll get is my list of the top ten free online Spanish-learning resources as well as the first in my “Get Started Learning Spanish” series.  Sign up below, please, and we’ll get started with this right now!  And don’t forget: trust that man, he has a dog!

Ok, there may have been some trickery…

Learn Spanish from Popular Media (movies, TV shows, music videos, books, even comics!) Using Mostly FREE Online Resources - Here's How...

I tried to learn French with self-study books and then classes (4 years!) in high school and failed...I tried Spanish and Russian while in university and failed (and got kicked out of a French class but that's another story)...then, 10 years ago, I took another shot at Spanish using a simple method I picked up from a friend: studying (not just watching) Spanish-language TV shows: I was conversationally fluent in six months.

Using popular media is a great way to learn a language, but you have to know:

A) How to do it, and...

B) Where to find said popular media.

If you'll be so trustworthy as to give me your email address below, I'll help you do this.  I'll teach you how to do it (how to deal with Spanish that's spoken "too fast" for you to understand let alone imitate, how to work with stuff that only provides English subtitles or none at all, how to learn grammar when you don't get a grammar lesson with the material because it's a movie/song/etc.) and where to find great, informative, entertaining sources of Spanish-language media - I mean stuff that's actually popular with current, adult native speakers, not just material made and intended for non-native students of the language (which can be dull and inauthentic).

Sign up below, now, and will kick things off right away with the first lesson on how to use material intended for native children (great stuff for beginners: it's authentic but simple, slow, and easy to understand) plus a bonus: my list of the Top 10 Free Online Resources for Learning Spanish.
